The worlds of Party and Punk are coming together. Andrew W.K. has been recruited by the former Ramone himself to lead the strike as vocalist for Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg. Currently hitting the US, the adaptation of the Punk Legends is lead by Marky Ramone himself in an effort to continue to spread the band’s classic catalogue to masses of fans, old and new. The band is playing 35 staple Ramones songs that span their discography.
The duo recently visited Last.fm Originals to talk about how it all came together.
Already having made his reputation as party-fueled frontman, Andrew was the obvious choice for Marky. “Andrew really knows how to engage the audience. He has his own style, I didnt want anyone that was a Ramones clone”.
As for Andrew, his decision was just as obvious. “To be honest there really was never a moment of hesitancy or doubt, it was a no brainer in the best way. When Marky asks you to sing for him and carry on the legacy of these great songs, you do it whether you feel you can or not”.
