Andrew was honored with a lifetime achievement award in “Partying Hard” at the 2nd annual Pop Goes The Culture Awards and Variety Show on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers, NY.

The Oscars were set for Sunday, March 2, but a day before that Yonkers’ native Jon Chattman brought his own awards show to the Alamo Drafthouse for an evening of “pop-stalgia”: meaningful performances and awards. Hosted by Broadway star and Westchester native John Treacy Egan (Sister Act), the show honored an eclectic mix of pop culture royalty: party-anthem rocker Andrew W.K. (Lifetime Achievement in Partying), Capitol Theatre owner Peter Shapiro (Westchester’s Savior Award), Tony-Award Winning and Blue Bloods actor Gregory Jbara (Best Achievement Putting a Voice to Someone Else’s Face), Tony Nominee and Broadway Star Constantine Maroulis (Lifetime Achievement of Being Constantine Maroulis Award) and rising rock group The Chevin (Buzz Band – 2014). Rounding out the honorees was Gary Gnu, a legendary newsman from the immortal 1980s series The Great Space Coaster and his puppeteer Jim Martin.

There were also live music performances from The Chevin, Emily Angell, Todd Carey, Mary C. and the Stellars, Gary Chattman, Bearbones, and Charlie Scopoletti. Last year’s emcee Carlos A. Gonzalez provided comedy while Mike Allan of Extreme Music Productions served as the house DJ.
