NEW ALBUM OUT NOW: Andrew W.K. Releases "You're Not Alone"

Full Album Available HERE.

It’s safe to say, nobody has partied harder, longer, or more fervently than the undisputed King of Partying himself, Andrew W.K.. A one-man music machine possessed of a single-minded, monomaniacal focus to spread a singular message: That to party is to exist. And to exist is to party.

On You're Not Alone, Andrew W.K.’s first album of new rock songs in nearly twelve years, the party is reborn, delivering everything one would want and expect from an Andrew W.K. record — high octane, full throttle rock ’n’ roll powered by buoyant, infectious, and triumphant melodies. His music, always a music of extremes, is relentlessly upbeat and celebratory, while also exploring contradiction and confusion.

The songs on this album follow a surprising path to self-actualization. They give the listener permission to admit their vulnerabilities, and the encouragement to feel empowered. They’re reflections on the push and pull between freedom and restriction. It’s a confirmation of everything you are, rejection of all you are not, and at times, a blurring of the difference between the two. Doubt becomes certainty, confusion becomes clarity, and the fear of life becomes the courage to live it completely. The album reveals itself through double meanings, mirrored views, each ringing equally true, even at their most severely discordant.

Andrew W.K. has lived a life built on a belief that to reach a state of grace and acceptance, one must embrace both the shadow and the light, the pain and the joy, all that is known and unknown, the stability as well as the chaos, its speed and torpor. Understanding this, Andrew W.K. suggests, is the foundation of what partying eventually transmits to us. And by harnessing the revelatory power of partying - by celebrating the puzzles and pressures of life - we find the key to change and evolution comes from both inside and out, when we're together and on our own.

That inner voice, the music of our consciousness, becomes our guide. Trust it. Follow it. Through good times and bad, ups and downs, highs and lows. Realize that just being able to hear it conveys something fundamental to your being… you’re not alone.

Andrew W.K. continues his quest to reach 'pure party euphoria' with the release of “Ever Again”, the second single from his upcoming album, You're Not Alone (due out March 2nd, 2018 via RED MUSIC/SONY MUSIC). The new track debuted this morning as Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record’ on Beats 1/Apple Music. In a surprise twist, Zane himself requested that Andrew take over the entire broadcast as Zane’s first ever guest-host. The official music video for “Ever Again” premiered at Noisey, who said, “Andrew W.K.'s ‘Ever Again’ video will literally save your soul… please listen to this song and watch the video and just try to feel cynical.”

HEAR / SHARE “Ever Again”

Andrew describes the song as, "A fantasy in which I imagine what it would be like to actually know the meaning of life - an ecstatic nightmare in which I've returned from the brink of annihilation, having clawed the Ultimate Insight from out of its hiding spot, and am finally able to solve the riddle of existence while I cry out in triumphant elation. The desire to possess this total internalized clarity - not only knowing what life really means, but actually feeling the Truth from the inside out - is a mirage for the mind, but a reality for the heart. But coming from a place of confusion and despair, perhaps simply having faith in the possibility of ‘the answer to everything' is enough to see us through those frequent moments of painful disorientation. I'm not singing from the perspective of someone who has found this ultimate-answer-to-everything, but as someone who's dreaming about how incredible it would feel if I had. And in a mysterious and strangely uplifting way, it seems that a belief in the possibility of an absolute Truth gives us access to something quintessential and crucial for our own survival - it connects us with a part of ourselves that's both primal and divine - an empowering, enlightening, and energizing force of unyielding and overwhelming feeling. A feeling that transcends emotion. A feeling that overwhelms all thought and language. A feeling that can't be understood, but can only be deeply and joyously experienced. And thus, celebrated in worshipful glee. Partying is born.”

The new song features Andrew’s characteristically full-blown style, cranked up to an even higher level of emotional intensity. Surging layers of sweeping melody carry across every section of the song, and Andrew’s powerful lyrical declarations are punctuated by a choral refrain of the title, professed to the doubters and true believers alike - it’s a mass of rock music maximalism worth living for.

HEAR / SHARE “Music Is Worth Living For”

About the new track, Andrew says, “‘Music Is Worth Living For’ is an exaltation of my love for music itself. It’s also me pleading with myself to recognize music’s eternal power and glory, in the face of hardship and pain. The song is an effort to remind myself that life is worth living, if for no other reason than because of the beauty music conveys. Music is a mysterious phenomenon - it seems both to magically overwhelm and sublimate our suffering, but also to starkly dignify the struggles of our daily life. The physical power of music must be coming from some sort of unshakable truth, sent from the primal core of all being. It’s so effortless and elegant in its intensity. I truly believe that listening to music can transform you into a better person. In that way, all my songs have been me just trying to get better, trying to cheer myself up, trying to convince myself that there is hope and joy in the world no matter how dark it may seem. And the lyrics of this song, especially in the verses, are me calling out my own interior negative forces - the lowest and darkest impulses inside me, that wish to hold me down in despair - and I’m telling those malevolent urges once and for all that they won’t break me. I will persevere. And when I triumph, somehow, someday, it will be because of music. This song is a celebration of that essential and divine life-force that music is both emanating from and emitting to us. This song is about how good music makes it feel to not be dead. As the last line of the chorus proclaims, ‘Music makes me want to stay alive.’ That’s probably the truest lyric I’ve ever written."
