Andrew W.K. Accepts SPIN's Ghost Pepper Wing Challenge!

SPIN invited Andrew W.K. and Action Bronson to accept a spicy wings challenge. The results weren't pretty! Check out the video HERE and above and the photos below.

During SXSW last year, Andrew got sloppy with Austin's food trucks. This year, SPIN decided to up the gastronomical ante and invited W.K. and rap-genius and gourmand Action Bronson, to see how much heat they could handle. The chicken wing masters at Wingzup were more than happy to test the intrepid musicians. The East Austin hotspot offered up its Ghost wing challenge: 25 of their hottest wings in ten minutes or less with no beverages to cut the flaming spiciness.

The Ghost wings take their name from the sauce's main ingredient, the Indian Ghost pepper (bhut jolokia), which was at one time recognized by the good people at Guinness World Records as the hottest pepper on the planet. How hot? 400 times hotter than Tabasco.

Andrew and Action had never met each other before, but both were confident about their ability to deal with the wings. W.K. boasted that "he'd never had a problem with something being too hot before . . . and I like things incredibly spicy." Bronson was even more succinct: "It'll be nothing."
